R.F. O’Sullivan & Son to Open in Former R.F. O’Sullivan’s Space in Somerville
A new restaurant and bar is replacing a now-closed spot in Somerville known for its burgers, and it has a slightly different name and new owners.
According to a source, R.F. O’Sullivan & Son is planning to open in the former R.F. O’Sullivan’s space on Beacon Street, with an email sent to us indicating that Greatest Boston Bar Company (whose other restaurants/bars include The Tam and Beacon Hill Pub) is the owner. A City of Somerville Licensing Commission page mentions that Brianna Michelle Classen is slated to be the manager, and we have confirmed that this is the same Brianna Classen who is a local standup comic. It appears that R.F. O’Sullivan & Son will be focusing on burgers, though a specific menu has not been seen as of yet.
The original R.F. O’Sullivan’s, which first opened in Somerville a bit more than 30 years ago, featured a variety of char-grilled meatball-shaped burgers; another location can be found in Lynn, and it is run by Rich Sullivan II, whose father Richard owned the Somerville location (and recently retired).
The address for the upcoming R.F. O’Sullivan & Son is 282 Beacon Street, Somerville, MA, 02143.
