NDA/IACS 10, Georgetown 1
Academy ace pitcher Carly Smith went the distance striking out 19 while walking none in a 10-1 win over Georgetown. The right-handed hurler scattered six hits over seven innings of work, in an impressive performance.
The offense was led by Jacqui Martineau who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Sarah Freitas also laced a pair of his hits, while scoring three times. The Academy team is a co-op between Notre Dame Academy and the Innovation Academy Charter School.

Nashoba Tech 4, Greater Lawrence Tech 3
Ben Reese posted the shutout at second singles as Nashoba Tech topped Greater Lawrence Tech, 4-3, in opening day action. Michelle Dunn dominated at third singles sweeping her match. Both schools showed great sportsmanship and support to their fellow players.

Notre Dame 5, Lowell Catholic 0
Ainsley Flood deflated Kiley Ciccolo at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, as the Academy of Notre Dame shutout Lowell Catholic 5-0.
Coach Bea Alice Loos squad came to play in this opening day decision. Katie Ma erased Emily Perry at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Macklyn Pacaro also edged Liz Bada at third singles, 6-3, 6-3. Emma O’Gorman and Maya O’Gorman were dominant at first doubles defeating Kat Kelley and Olivia Porto, 6-2, 6-0. Maya Hardy and Phay Mey completed the sweep at second doubles, silencing Sam Ryder and Julia Vasoncelos 6-0, 6-1.
Westford 4, Bedford 1
Westford’s Emily Wang defeated Lauren Barnes at first singles, 6-2, 6-0, as Westford girls tennis beat Bedford in the season opener, 4-1.
Anika Kagalavadi dropped Danielle Digangi at second singles, 6-1, 6-4. The Ghosts doubles teams also delivered. Christine McKay and Julia Donescu grounded Angela Gu and Audrey Leida at first doubles, 6-4, 6-2. Haasini Paparaju and Julia Botros also beat Annie Bernstein and Kate Heller in second doubles, 7-5, 0-6, 6-0. Bedford’s lone win came in third singles, as Ariel Grossman toppled Prajana Sriram, 6-2 6-4.
Groton-Dunstable 5, Littleton 0
Katelyn Gray and Gwen Kimball edged out Sohana Sachdev and Kate Ferreira at first doubles, as Groton-Dunstable grounded Littleton, 5-0.
GD senior Lina Christi defeated freshman Stella Cahill at first singles, 6-0, 6-2. Senior Alekhya Puttagunta prevailed over sophomore Ruby Hider at second singles, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Arushi Chaudary completed the singles sweep stopping junior Julia DiNoia, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Emma Milano and senior Bella Hutchins rounded out the shutout at second doubles beating juniors Erin Coykendall and Jaime Sundberg, 6-0, 6-0.
Pelham 9, Monadnock 0
Co-Captain Brooke Contarino defeated Aderyn Daughtery at second singles, 8-0, as Pelham dispatched Monadnock, 9-0, in opening day action.
“It was a great start for the season,” said Pelham Coach Di Thomas.
The singles sweep from fronted by co-captain Ruby Day defeating Bridget VanValza at first singles, 8-1. Jessica Beavens peppered Haley Peters at third singles, 8-1. Corrine Kelly clipped Tricia Ryan at fourth singles, 8-1. Grace DeSousa dropped Lenin Ayala at fifth singles, 8-0. Rosie Day also defeated Cassidy Morrison at sixth singles, 8-0.
Pelham’s doubles teams were also untouchable with three consecutive 8-0 wins.
Boys Tennis
Littleton 3, Groton Dunstable 2
Littleton doubled up on Groton Dunstable with a 3-2 win.
Vedonla Sharma and Luras Mueller shined at first doubles beating Tom Wong and Alex Caruso, 6-2, 6-1. Sam Little and Evan McKay also mastered Luke St. Pierre and Linus Brier at second doubles, 6-3, 3-6, 7-4, giving Littleton all the momentum they’d need.
Will Palaia provided the knockout punch at first singles, topping Will Gold, 6-4, 6-3. GD’s Rohan Francis tripped up Mikey Taylor at second singles, 6-3, 6-3. Zach Aster also showed Areen Panda the door at third singles, 6-3, 6-3 to make things interesting.
Boys Lacrosse
Nashoba Tech 13, Mystic Valley 2
Captains Jack Dennehy and Connor Buchmann each potted a pair as Nashoba Tech trumped Mystic Valley, 13-2, in its home opener.
Fresh off a 12-5 loss to Whittier, Nashoba entered the game with a lot to prove, and did just that. Freshman Jayden Auger and and sophomore Kamari L’ltalien netted their first varsity goals. Meanwhile the team’s defense was solid. Nashoba returns to action at home against Minuteman, April 7 at 4 p.m.
Lowell Catholic 12, Essex Tech 11 OT
Owen King connected on five goals and two assists, including the game-winner in overtime, as Lowell Catholic edged Essex Tech, 12-11.
The win proved to be a King-sized victory with Owen’s brother Colin King also cashing in with four goals and three assists. The Tech heled the lead at half time, before the Crusaders stormed back knotting the game up at 8-8 at the end of the third quarter. Lowell Catholic was paced by Andrew Marcucci (goal, four assists), Dylan Eld (goal), Riley Nichols (assist) and Patrick Drew (assist).
