It’s Spring! Time for Pick-Your-Own Tulips in MA
As much as I intend to bundle up and brave the winter weather, most of our family activities were indoors for the last several months. Spring is the season of renewal, and being out in nature after my months-long hibernation is refreshing. As soon as the weather shows any inkling that spring has arrived, we’re heading out the door to soak it up.
One of my favorite family activities is going to a nearby farm for “pick your own” anything. And one of the first picking options of the season is tulips! I love a fresh bouquet of flowers. They can lighten up any room as well as any mood I’m in. Also, it’s beautiful seeing rows and rows of flowers — which makes for an awesome backdrop for impromptu family photos.
A pick-your-own outing is the perfect way to get out of the city and let our children appreciate mother nature. To learn what a tiny seed can create. We also work on being gentle as we pick and appreciate the bounty we get to bring home with us.
Tulip season is pretty short, lasting only a couple of weeks and typically ranging from mid-April to early May. So take full advantage while it lasts! Here are a few places in Massachusetts where you can enjoy PYO tulips. Many of the farms offer food, farm animals, and play areas that easily convert your PYO tulip experience into a day trip.
