Westfield Athenaeum hosts ‘Storybook Holiday’ wine tasting fundraiser Dec. 1

WESTFIELD — The annual wine tasting fundraiser to support the renovation campaign for the Westfield Athenaeum has been set for 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.
The wine tasting has become the unofficial kickoff for the holiday season. This year’s version, “A Storybook Holiday,” will be in the majestic Great Hall of the Athenaeum at 6 Elm St., Westfield, which will be outfitted in stunning holiday décor.
Super Phipps Liquors will again serve as lead sponsor, and will offer a varied sampling of selected wines for the event. Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres will be served with the assistance of the Westfield Technical Academy’s culinary arts program. Live music will be performed by Pete Grimaldi’s Third Millenium Trio. The event also includes a fresh holiday floral arrangement raffle.
Tickets are $50 each and are available now, at the main circulation desk of the Athenaeum or online through Paypal at westath.org.
This is the major fundraising event organized by the all-volunteer Board of Trustees of the Athenaeum. Proceeds will support the restoration and upgrade of the main room of the Adult Library, the Great Hall, which is the third phase of the total building renovation project begun in 2016.
The Athenaeum, a private, nonprofit organization in continuous service to the residents of Westfield and surrounding communities for over 150 years, receives much of its funding from city and state grants, but depends upon private donations, restricted endowments and fundraising efforts to meet its full budget.
