Reuse This Kitchen Staple For Extra Garage Storage

0 4

If the set of shelves in your garage is overrun with tiny bits and pieces from various projects or repairs, a few muffin tins are a great budget-friendly idea to help you organize your garage. To transform the baking trays into easily-accessible drawers underneath your shelves, you’ll need a 1½ inch long pivot screw, two washers, and two nuts for each pan. This will attach your tray to the underside of the shelf and allow it to move in and out so that you have easy access but it can also be tucked away in a second.

To make your muffin tin into a drawer, drill holes for your flat head machine screw ($7 for 25 at Home Depot) into both the shelf and the rim of the muffin tray. Next, insert the screw down into the hole in the shelf and add a washer, the pan, and then another washer. Finally, attach the two nuts to keep everything secure. Your muffin tin storage tray should easily swivel back and forth beneath the shelf. You can then fill the tray with any items that will fit, including screws, nails, bolts, nuts, and washers. Since these trays aren’t very deep, you should still be able to store other objects below your makeshift drawers as well to maximize a small garage.
