For the first time, the New York Giants will be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.” But it will come with a twist.

The annual series will take a different approach this summer with its first offseason edition titled, “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants.” The announcement comes on the heels of the Giants’ 100th season.

“We are beyond thrilled that the New York Giants have opened their doors to the ‘Hard Knocks’ cameras for the first time ever,” Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller, executive vice presidents, HBO Documentaries, and Bentley Weiner, vice president, HBO Sports Documentaries said in a statement. “The NFL offseason is a fascinating period that we’ve always wanted to explore and we can’t wait to show football fans everywhere what NFL Films has been capturing behind the scenes at the team’s headquarters.”

Giants CEO John Mara told The New York Daily News in 2010 that he had no interest in being part of the show and didn’t want the cameras around during training camp. But this iteration of the series will focus on the offseason, though ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that there will still be the traditional version of the series.

“This is the opening act, essentially.” Schefter wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It’s been a busy offseason for the Giants. Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, running backs coach Jeff Nixon, offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins, defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins and strength coach Craig Fitzgerald all left the organization. New York also traded for Brian Burns, lost Saquon Barkley in free agency and drafted Malik Nabers with the sixth-overall pick in this year’s draft.

“Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants” will premiere July 2 at 9 p.m. EST.
