Representatives for ABC and ABC Signature declined to provide any comments about the performer’s departure, according to Deadline.

Francis was initially added to the cast of the long-running medical drama series in July of last year.

She went on to make her debut as Dr. Yasuda in the show’s 19th season, which debuted in October of 2022.

Other series regulars that were added for that season included Harry Shum Jr. and Adelaide Kane.

Francis remained with the program for its twentieth season, which debuted this past March and is set to conclude later this month.

Grey’s Anatomy’s upcoming 21st season currently does not have a scheduled premiere date.

The actress spoke about working on the program during an interview with InStyle and spoke about how watching Sandra Oh portray Dr. Cristina Yang during the show’s early seasons endeared her to the series.

‘I remember when I was younger, she was a lot of my friends’ favorite character, and that was so cool to me. That’s honestly a big part of my connection to the show,’ she said.

Francis also stated that she was slightly intimidated by the prospect of working with the show’s longtime cast members.

‘There was definitely pressure on day one coming in and just learning. They’ve been doing this for a long time, so on the first day a lot of us were, honestly, still learning to take off gloves and put them back on,’ she recalled.

However, the actress stated that the program’s veterans quickly established a rapport with their new cast members, which made filming particularly enjoyable.

‘The cast has been so welcoming. The fact that we all have each other (the new interns and I), it’s been really fun. It’s been more fun than I think I anticipated, actually,’ she said.
