TEWKSBURY — State Sen. Barry R. Finegold (D-Andover) hosted a Senior Seminar at the Tewksbury Senior Center May 10 alongside representatives from the Attorney General’s Office and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

“I appreciated this opportunity to discuss issues of particular concern to seniors alongside subject matter experts from the Attorney General and MEMA offices,” said Finegold. “These valued community members have contributed so much to our towns, and it was an honor to meet with them today.”

During the event, Finegold provided details on what the Legislature is working on as it pertains to seniors, discussed state and local programs for seniors, and shared office contact information.

AGO representatives Melissa Armstrong, supervising consumer specialist in the Consumer Advocacy & Response Division, and Robert Fernandez, senior policy coordinator, spoke on scam prevention, detailing what scams are commonly reported to the Attorney General’s Office and provided tips on how to avoid them.
Sara Porter, public information program supervisor with MEMA, discussed emergency preparedness and how to access reliable information in a crisis.

Finegold also presented Janice Conole, director of Tewksbury’s Council on Aging, a Senate citation for her leadership and commitment to the center.
