Two NYC police officers were shot by an 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela during an attempted traffic stop.

According to reports, the officers tried to pull over the man who was driving a scooter the wrong way near 89th Street and 23rd Avenue as part of addressing moped robberies in the area.

The man fled on foot and shot at the officers during the chase, wounding one in the vest and another in the leg.

The officers returned fire, wounding the shooter in the ankle. Both officers were released from the hospital after treatment.
