Man arrested after breaking into ATM at Turn Hall in Adams

ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – Approximately 05:54am on Sunday, February 18th, Adams Police Department officers received a call about an alarm being activated at the Turn Hall on Turners Avenue in Adams.  

Upon their arrival, fresh shoe impressions were discovered in the snow surrounding the building.  Officers conducted a check of the building upon the arrival of a key holder. No one could be located inside the building.

On scene, officers observed that the building had been forced entered and that someone had attempted to drill open the ATM.  Additionally, several items, including bottles of liquor, were removed from the building.  During the course of the investigation, officers observed surveillance video of the suspect and were able to positively identify him.  

Following the investigation, officers located the male suspect at their residence and arrested him based on probable cause.

The following charges have been filed against this individual: 

  • Chapter 266 Section 16 – Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime for Felony
  • Chapter 266 Section 16 – Break into a Depository (ATM)
  • Chapter 266 Section 49 – Possession of Burglarious Tools
  • Chapter 266 Section 20 – Larceny from a Building
  • Chapter 266 Section 126 – Destruction of Property (3 Counts)

Upon being arrested by the Adams Police Department, the man was transported to the Northern Berkshire District Court to be arraigned. He subsequently pleaded guilty to these charges and several other open cases and was sentenced to 9 months at the Berkshire County House of Corrections.
